“If you have eagerness in your heart it means you are alive
Imran Qureshi
Introduction
If you read my previous article dissecting the character Ved from Tamasha, you would be familiar with a typical INFP. As INFP’s, they are entirely devoted to their morals and values, have friends with a common purpose, and pursuing the ideal life they vividly pictured while growing up. Moreover, they are creative, always coming up with new ideas, optimistic perspectives, and persevering in a quiet yet subtle way. Today, we will be looking at Imran from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.
This movie is the perfect representation for those who were labeled as troublemakers in their school days. We were first introduced to three characters, who are troublemakers at heart in their own way. It taught the young generation what friendship truly is and how it’s fine to laugh, cry, and smile together without being judged.

Characters
Apart from the story, many remember the character dynamic and how relatable they were to us. Arjun was the egocentric workaholic who felt the whole world revolved around him. Kabir was the obedient son married to a respectable girl from a wealthy family, only to find out that he never loved but misled the woman he thought was ‘the one.’ Laila was the beautiful diving instructor who gave us a beautiful lesson on how utilizing all your senses while diving was the critical formula to living a happy life. Although not the most likable character, Natasha taught us how obsessing with love in our life was not healthy. And to the main character of this article: Imran. The guy with genuine laughs, only to later find out that behind that real laughter was a sadness that made him ache every day.
Imran was the character who had a fantastic sense of humor, yet as an audience, we realized he had many layers that made him difficult to understand. It was evident that the people around him often overlooked him as just another guy who likes to travel the world. However, when his poetic dialogues came into fruition, we as an audience realized he had a vision of his ideal world that had to bring internal satisfaction. Instead of breaking the INFP personality into individual letters as we did previously, I wanted to take the elements from the first paragraph and break it down into subsequent headings. Because the INFP elements in the first paragraph was showcased in significant scenes of the movie.

Morals and Values
I remember being surprised when I found out about his biological father, Salman Habib. Salman Habib was the eternal hippie who knew the impact his actions had on others. When he met Imran he didn’t lie or try to sugar-coat his actions. He admitted his attitude hurt Imran’s mother but doesn’t pretend to be the father Imran visualized in his mind. This left Imran shattered.

Imran found out about Salman after the truth is revealed by his mother, Rahila. Moreover , Imran questioned his own upbringing and existence. He grew up observing the caring nature of another man(Faisal) whom he thought to be his father. Throughout this realization, Imran realizes his journey with Arjun and how much he hurt him in the past. Yet this realization only occurred to Imran after he measured his actions against the morals and values he lived by.
Creative and Poetic
People remember this movie for its beautiful poems by Imran, and to this day is an inspiration on how to live a life full of meaning. (Penned by Javed Akhtar). Many personalities in the MBTI view poetry in a very unique way. In Imran’s case, reading the emotions of his friends was something he found so liberating. A feeling every INFP enjoys. When we hear the first poem in the voice over, it implies he came up with that poem on the spot. The first poem about the sea showcased how complex and deep Imran’s emotions were. And the complexity of his personality is only expanded as the audience gets to hear subsequent poems recited in the voice over.
INFP’s love it when our poetry resonates with others and aims to acknowledge how unique everybody in the world truly is.
Fair
INFP’s are known for being excellent mediators and making sure every friend in their group has a specific place in whatever they do together. Moreover, the whole idea of going on a road trip and each character picking their unique adventure sport was conceived by none other than Imran himself! He wanted to make sure that he went on a journey with his best pals, but they enjoyed it in their own unique way. Be it running with the bulls, deep-sea diving, or skydiving off a plane, each activity brought growth to each character and revealed the different aspects of their personality.

Conclusion
I want to thank Zoya Akhtar. I felt these scenarios were happening to an actual group of three misfits. As a person who works without taking any breaks, the film taught me that we may miss out on various life experiences when making our career. Sometimes taking a break and relaxing is nothing to be ashamed about. Obviously, we may have so many things left on our to-do list that we will do ‘one day.’ Yet, in fact, we can never say when or if that ‘one day’ will ever come. Like Imran, the poetic INFP, we know deep within our mind what we want. All we need is a push from our close ones to figure out what it is. In closing, what are you waiting for? Let us book some tickets and go on a road trip with our best friends! Because Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.
